The original Tyrian air staff has a shiny exterior. It's straight and geometrical in shape. The head is hexagonal in shape and made up of a silverish gem magically suspended between two concave disks with lights running through the gem.

A second version of this staff, which drops in all regions, has been available since the March 9, 2006 update, which shares optical features with the Air Wand.

A third version of the staff, known as the Canthan or metal Air Staff, which is black with a metallic head and metal bands, is available in the Factions campaign.

During the Nightfall Preview Weekend there was a fourth type of air staff made of one smooth piece of wood in a curling stylised cloud design resembling a larger version of the Cloudburst Wand. It has since been renamed to Tempest Staff.
