A weapon with a "Ebon" name prefix is equipped with a weapon upgrade of the same name:

• Ebon Axe Haft
• Ebon Bow String
• Ebon Dagger Tang
• Ebon Hammer Haft
• Ebon Scythe Snathe
• Ebon Spearhead
• Ebon Sword Hilt

An Ebon weapon upgrade provides the following bonus to the weapon (the user respectively):

• Converts physical damage to earth damage.

• Elemental weapons do more damage to opponents with extra physical armor or absorption, such as Warriors, or Mesmers using Physical Resistance. However, elemental weapons do less damage to characters with additional elemental armor, such as Rangers or Mesmers using Elemental Resistance.
