[edit] Notes
- Hydra will almost always cast Meteor at the beginning of a fight and, when encountered in a group, will tend to cast this one after other rather than simultaneously. Multiple hits from a small pack of Hydras can wipe out your whole party in an impressively short amount of time. Spread out if possible so that it is harder for them to hit the whole party or even better try to interrupt their casting. Protection skills are useful versus Hydras, especially Protective Spirit.
- Hydras can run very fast. It is possible for a hydra to keep up with a person using a speed enhancement skill.
- Mesmers are extremely useful against hydras. By the time you meet Hydras in the Crystal Desert primary mesmers should have three interrupts: Power Leak, Power Spike, and Power Drain. Proper use of all three to interrupt the hydra's spells (paricularly Meteor) makes them far easier to fight. Mesmers should also bring Mantra of Flame to protect them when a spell slips through.
