Treasure
From GuildWiki
A treasure is a special type of chest found only in Elona. Every treasure contains some gold and one purple item, gold item, or a gem (ruby, sapphire, or diamond). The amount of gold and the quality of the items varies depending on the area where the treasure was found (from around 400
for treasures on Istan to greater than 3
for treasures in the Realm of Torment), and whether the item received was a gem, a gold item, a purple item, or a gold identifiable rune (purple items only come with about 2/3 the amount of gold). Altogether, a character can collect around 20
by opening all of the treasures available. However the sums of the items you can obtain vary the prices.
Unlike normal chests, treasures need no key to open and any gold received from it will automatically appear in the player's inventory.
An unknown update has changed the properties of Treasure in Elona. The changes go as observed: When one character on an account opens all treasures for the first time, they receive the max amount of platinum and a gold item for the area. Previously if one account had 5 level 20's for instance they all could accumulate the max amount of platinum and a gold item every treasure run per area. This is true still if it is the first time the characters have done chest runs. Now however, it is time specific--you will receive fewer gold items, less gold, and more purples with each successive run you make if you do not wait a certain, as yet unknown, amount of time. The current best guess theory is at least a month, up to 6-7 weeks. If you get to the point where they are empty and you keep trying without waiting the appropriate time, it seems they will never reset.
There are three types of objects that are considered to be treasure:
- Treasure Chest
- Buried Treasure
- Do Not Touch
"Do Not Touch" objects are guarded by monsters, and activating them will spawn an item, gold, and either Immolated Djinn or Ruby Djinn. Due to the often confined spaces, it is not a good idea for the whole party to stand together when the "Do Not Touch" objects are activated. Both varieties of Djinn are known to use either Savannah Heat or Searing Flames. The Djinn type and the elite skill used appear to be random.

[edit] Notes
- The Djinn will sometimes not spawn from the "Do Not Touch" object in Bahdok Caverns or Forum Highlands.
- The Do Not Touch in Bahdok Caverns cannot be reached during the mission.
- Opening treasures in hard mode does not increase values.
- All treasure resets exactly one month after finishing the final mission for the first time on that character and opening the chest for the first time, if the chest has been opened before beating the final mission a one month wait is still required.
- Treasure chests reset once a month, approximately 30 days after the last time the character opened it. If a character attempts to open the chest again before the month has passed, nothing will drop from it and you will have to wait another month from that date for the chest to reset again.
- If you are opening treasures in a party, you won't share the money that you receive if you open a treasure.
