[edit] Walkthrough
Upon accepting the mission you will appear in the first floor of the dungeon. Several packs of Charr move through the area, along with stationary units, though their movement does not pose any particular challenge. As usual, preparations for fire damage and Charr Eye of the North tactics is useful.
Follow the maps included in this page for the path required for completion of each dungeon level. Each level has one of Pyre Fierceshot's warband members held captive and a key must be taken from a Prison Guard Charr in order to gain access to the captive. Prison Guards have been known to run, causing some potential trouble.
The first level is straightforward, with typically-sized Charr groups. The second level seems smaller at first, and contains an initial large group and warrior boss that may pose a higher challenge as they move closer. The gorgeous crystalline 'cell' containing Cowl Fiercetongue has strange motes of light floating throughout, but there is no danger inside. Instead, one of the gates elsewhere opens and a group of Charr will come investigate. Continue east, exploring the caverns and dispatching spiders and Charr (including some larger groups) as you seek the exit. Some battles can be avoided and there are multiple paths at times. The gate to the next level is protected by Jadam Spearspinner and there are a lot of spiders that will drop depending on aggro. Moving slowly will keep the battles manageable.
The third level quickly takes you to a small group with a key. Take stock of the situation after opening the door, pulling groups to make the fight amidst the burning trees easier. There is a small group at the end of the hall that controls further access into the Charr temple. Shortly after entering you will see a lone Prison Guard. He will run when attacked, taking you into areas with Magma Blisters that spawn to make the battle interesting. However, if you have rescued Cowl Fiercetongue (more than likely, he is earlier in the level), he will use a water magic slowing hex on the Guard, making the battle quite easy.
From here there are various paths that can be taken to reach Flamemaster Maultooth, though the obvious one is fine, but make sure that you kill the guards at the other doors to prevent them from being agroed later on. The alternates can be used in a number of ways, especially if the next battle goes poorly and you need to maneuver to get past Effigies or bring comrades back to life. Once you make it to the great hall it is best to move about without drawing aggro. At a certain distance a conversation with Maultooth will start and additional Charr will show up. Take these groups out first. Then proceed to pull the other groups that defend Maultooth. Each Effigy can and should be pulled separately, as they are formidable on their own. You should end up with Maultooth and two other Charr, making the fight easy (especially if you focus on Maultooth and use interrupts). If you find it to hard to pull the Effigy it might be a better idea to go straight for Maultooth, the best way to do this is by attacking him from his left or right so that you can use the stairs on the sides in stead of the better guarded main stairs.

|
| Rescue Seer Fiercereign:
|
| Seer Fiercereign:
| "Did you bring these human slaves to carry your pack, Pyre? Or are they lunch?"
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "Times have changed, Seer. These humans help us of their own free will."
|
| -OR-
|
| Gwen: (if in party)
| "Slaves? You brutal animal! All you can do is bite the hand that rescues you!"
|
| Seer Fiercereign:
| "So it seems we fight together. Cowl and Roan are held further below. Let's not waste any more time."
|
| Rescue each member of Pyre Fierceshot's warband:

| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "Cowl Fiercetongue, you mangy mess! I thought for sure the Shaman would have killed you by now!"

|
| Flamemaster Maultooth:

|
| Pyre Fierceshot:

| Questions and Answers
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "You have freed my warband."
|
| Gwen:
| "And now that we have, you don't need us anymore, right?"
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "I made a bargain, I shall keep it."
|
| <party leader>:
| "So the Charr do have honor."
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "Honor be damned. A poor warrior abandons his best weapons."
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "Gron, what have you brought for us?"
|
| Gron Fierceclaw:
| "You missed this one the first time through. You're getting sloppy."
|
| Torg Bloodspine:
| "You and your pets will pay for this, Fierceshot."
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "Probably, but not today. Where are the humans?"
|
| Torg Bloodspine:
| "Why should I tell you, traitor?"
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "I'll hobble you. I'll stake you out in the sun. Then I'll turn you over to the mouse, here. She likes to hurt Charr."
|
| Gwen:
| "Just give me half a chance."
|
| Torg Bloodspine:
| "The meat . . . the humans . . . are in the south, in the Sacnoth Valley. The Hierophant means to feed them to our new gods."
|
| <party leader>:
| "Those are not gods."
|
| Torg Bloodspine:
| "Do you think we care? What matters is that others think they are."
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "I know the valley he speaks of. Have you heard enough?"
|
| <party leader>:
| "More than enough."
|
| Torg Bloodspine:
| "Then release me. I'll head north, away from here. I want no part of your petty vengeance."
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "You forget."
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "YOU are part of my petty vengeance."
|
| Gwen:
| "You killed him. Even though he told you what we wanted to know."
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "He tried to bargain from a position of weakness. He was a fool."
|
| Gwen:
| "You are savage, treacherous animals!"
|
| Pyre Fierceshot:
| "You know nothing of my people."

[edit] Followup
- What Must Be Done
- As with other quests against Charr, virtually all of the damage you receive will be fire damage, so taking fire-based protection (such as Mantra of Flame and Ward Against Harm) is well advised.
- Graphics errors may occur on entering the third level of the dungeon much like areas of Vabbi in the Nightfall campaign.
- There is a lot of heavy AoE damage in this dungeon. Always spread out when possible, especially if using heroes and henchmen. Consider flagging them apart manually.
- Bringing interrupters will help a lot; especially the elementalists that deals great damage.
- Although they don't actually take up inventory space, having a full inventory will prevent you from picking up a Prison Key.
- Charr Prisonmasters may be resurrected by other Charr and will drop another key; keys dropped by the same Prisonmaster do not count multiple times.
- Many Charr mobs carry Resurrection Signet. Be prepared with interrupts or Frozen Soil.
- The Charr allies will resurrect if killed once all nearby enemies have been defeated.
- In the final chamber, Flamemaster Maultooth and the two closest Charr count as a separate group. All the other foes, including the Charr Effigies, can be pulled separately. Once pulled, they will not return to their original positions.
- Defeating Flamemaster Maultooth will end the mission, a good spike team can end the last part of the mission quickly by focusing their fire on him.
- The lava on the second level does not cause burning.
- This mission is very useful for farming Superb Charr Carvings, as all the enemies are Charr.
| Bug! Sometimes Cowl Fiercetongue doesn't fight.
|
| Bug! Sometimes the last prison guard on the third level does not drop a prison key which means you will have to restart the level.

[edit] Trivia
- The quest is probably a reference to the book and television mini series Band of Brothers, which in turn comes from a speech delivered by Henry V of England before the Battle of Agincourt in William Shakespeare's Henry V; Act IV, Scene 3.
